Service Description

Many parents ask me how to support their child in their reading and writing development. One proven strategy for acceleration is through explicit and targeted phonics teaching. Working in a small group can ensure the learning is tailored to your child's needs and that your child is engaged and participating at all times. My phonics tuition explores the sounds that make up words using multi sensory methods including how to blend and decode in order to read and write with confidence. Having gaps in phonics learning can make progressing in literacy very challenging and often students lose confidence and become embarrassed by these difficulties. My phonics tuition will help your child rediscover their love of learning as they begin to see progress in their literacy. Prior to first session I will conduct a phonics assessment to establish the level of phonics instruction required and will group your child accordingly to ensure lessons are tailored for your child's needs. I will contact you after booking to arrange a date in February for assessment. Lessons will take place on Tuesdays from 8am in the Reading Recovery Room at Hampden Street School The course will cost $315 for Term 1 (i.e. $35 per thirty minute lesson).
